ABOUT ME

HELLO ~

​

I am a Japanese student, currently studying character animation at Southern Adventist University and will graduate in December 2022 with a BFA. My work is inspired by children’s book illustrations and aims to apply its aesthetic to 2D animation. In addition to animation, I love painting and illustration and dream of doing background illustrations for booklet, children's books, and 2D Feature-length animations.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Illustration and animation inspire new ideas and show me more possibilities in my art. As I work with digital painting and 2D animation, I can create a soft and warm feeling like children's book arts. For a moment, the viewers have the time to rest from their busy lives and be filled with a sense of peace by being reminded of the richness and kindness of human beings. In my work, nature is an essential subject to create a sense of peace with the similar aesthetic seen in cartoon saloons. My art is to reach out to those who suffer from anxiety, and depression and help them to regain their self-esteem through fun, cute and healing animation.

ANIMATOR・BACKGROUND DESINGNER

Created a 40 second individual short animated film. Storyboarded, modeled, rigged, animated, and edited the short.

ART DIRECTOR・ANIMATOR

Supervised the art direction of the short animated film. Contributed to the concept art and the backdrops for the sequence. Won 4 awards: "Best Animated Short", "Audience choice", and "Best in Festival" in Sunscreen Flim Festival 2020-2021, "Best Undergraduate Student Film" Award at the Windrider Summit Short Film Showcase.
